With a huge smile on my face and my legs (almost) intact. When I embarked on this adventure, my first objective was simply to <strong data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"533\">finish<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"534\" data-end=\"537\">Then, during the preparation, I secretly dreamt of a 4h30. And yet, that day, I did better!   <\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"838\">This marathon wasn&#8217;t just a performance. It was the <strong data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"762\">culmination of 10 years of running<\/strong>, and above all <strong data-start=\"780\" data-end=\"806\">three key changes<\/strong> in the months leading up to it: <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"989\">A training routine that&#8217;s finally structured<\/li><li data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"989\">Targeted muscle strengthening<\/li><li data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"989\">A 100% vegetarian diet for endurance<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-75f5bf7 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"75f5bf7\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ca13409\" data-id=\"ca13409\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02707b4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"02707b4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">I was told that without animal proteins, I'd never make it.<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d88160f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d88160f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1056\" data-end=\"1174\">That plant proteins wouldn&#8217;t be enough for such an effort, that running 42 km without meat was a risky bet. A year on, I can say with even greater hindsight <strong data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1256\">that none of this is true.<\/strong><br>My vegetarian diet wasn&#8217;t a hindrance. <strong data-start=\"1323\" data-end=\"1357\">It has been one of my greatest assets<\/strong>. Stable energy, better recovery, optimised digestion. I went into the race with a clear head and I held on from start to finish.    <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-bf4e5ab elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"bf4e5ab\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8372c74\" data-id=\"8372c74\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-daa8cab elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"daa8cab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What this race has changed<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02a83dc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"02a83dc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1712\">Looking back, I realise that this marathon was a <strong data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1633\">trigger<\/strong>. Not just physically, but also <strong data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1711\">mentally, emotionally and professionally<\/strong>.<br>Crossing that line was much more than finishing a race. It was the start of something else.
