Levantini: the king of Pitas!
I think I’ll end up making a separate category for Levantine cuisine 🙂 I’d often been told about Maastricht and that it was a city I absolutely had to visit. I took advantage of a long weekend to take a little break.
I’d heard great things about Le Levantini, a vegetarian restaurant with plenty of vegan options offering warm, gourmet cuisine. On the menu: filled pita breads, mezzes, in short, everything I love.
I tried the Shashuka pita : hummus and shashuka, and the Labneh pita: labneh (a recipe for homemade yoghurt/cheese, Za’atar, eggplant and peppers). I loved the Shashuka pita, the pita bread is simply incredible! I’ve rarely eaten one this good. To accompany all this, I couldn’t resist trying the baba ganoush (eggplant caviar) and I didn’t regret it.

Generous cuisine and plenty of vegan dishes!

Le Levantini is a great place to share a convivial meal. The value for money is excellent, with a pita costing less than 10 euros. If you don’t fancy a pita, the restaurant also offers a fine assortment of fresh, homemade mezzes and bowls.
Best Veggie Tables' opinion
To sum up: A very nice address to discover if you’re passing through Maastricht.
The setting is also pretty cool, with a very retro style 🙂 just the way I like it!
