Le George – Paris

Le George: Mediterranean cuisine just the way we like it!

On a weekend in Paris, I was keen to try out a new gourmet restaurant (admittedly) but with a more generous approach to cuisine. As a lover of Italian cuisine, I thought it would be a good time to try out chef Simone Zanoni’s menu at his restaurant Le George.

Restaurant le George is located in the Palace of the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris: it boasts 1 Michelin star, 1 green star and 2 Gault&Millau toques. The place is quite impressive. The restaurant is very bright, the decor is rather classic, but you feel comfortable and at ease. We were lucky enough to have a table opposite the glass roof overlooking the hotel’s inner courtyard.

After several years at Gordon Ramsay, chef Simone Zanoni joined the George restaurant in 2016. His aim is to offer refined Mediterranean cuisine, where sharing takes on its full meaning.

The real bonus of this restaurant is that there are two menus on the menu: a vegetarian menu and a vegan menu. We opted for the vegetarian menu with vegan dessert.

Eating at Le George means taking your time and appreciating the generosity of the dishes.

We start the meal with all the small starters. I loved this way of serving, as it makes for a real conviviality! The dishes are colorful, fresh and really generous.
The taste gets stronger as the dishes progress. I really felt like I was traveling to Italy, with some pretty strong markers. I really fell in love with the ravioli, a dish of great finesse.

It’s the first time in a gourmet restaurant that I’ve been unable to finish my plate because the food is so generous, a bit like in Italy!

Best Veggie Tables' opinion

In short: If you’re in the mood for generous, high-quality Italian cuisine, go and eat at the George.

Areas for improvement: This is Mediterranean cuisine, so the products on offer are inevitably the same in summer as in winter. For example, summer vegetables such as tomatoes and eggplants can be found in winter. It might be possible to offer different products according to the season, although I imagine this would be complicated when the restaurant’s trademark is Italian cuisine.
